The Ready Meals market is a booming sector that is expected to increase significantly in size over the next decade, with analyst GlobalData last year forecasting 6.6% CAGR between 2023-2008, from a total value of US$77 billion in 2023 to US$106.7 billion by 2028.
At the same time, however, consumer interest – and concern – about healthier eating and food safety has arguably never been higher, with articles across the mainstream and specialized media raising concerns about the health attributes and sustainability of ready meals.
High Pressure Processing (HPP) technology from JBT Avure is addressing both demands by helping a growing number of businesses deliver safe, fresh and minimally processed products with no additives or preservatives.
JBT Avure’s HPP for Ready Meals: Seminar and Factory Visit, which takes place in Parma, Italy on May 16, 2024 will give European customers the opportunity to see how HPP technology is applied to ready-to-eat (RTE) products in the setting of a working toll center.
As Europe’s largest HPP tolling facility, the visit to the HPP Italia plant will give delegates the chance to see two Avure HPP machines in action, and see for themselves how ready meals benefit from the process.
The accompanying seminar will examine the specific benefits of using HPP for ready meals and its ability to produce nutritional, tasty, preservative-free products, as well as the potential for HPP to boost exports to the U.S. and beyond.

In addition, you will also have the opportunity to have a taste of the new Ready Meals range!”
JBT EMENA Sales Director, Patrick Schorlemmer, commented: “[The seminar is] a huge opportunity to connect with industry experts and discover firsthand how HPP technology is reshaping the landscape of Ready Meal production, offering a safe, fresh, and minimally processed product with no additives or preservatives.”
Jasper Van Altena, JBT Sales Manager and Food Technologist for EMENA region, added: “HPP is a unique preservation technology that provides a food-safe ready meal, preserving all the nutritional values in the food. Come and explore all the possibilities, this event is not to be missed!”
The new seminar and factory visit follows the first ever HPP workshop in September 2022, which also included a visit to HPP Italia’s Parma facility. On that occasion, the seminar took at look at the pasteurization process, packaging options, and current and emerging HPP applications. As a result of the success of the initial edition, the seminar and factory visit is set to become a recurring event.
