JBT Avure is celebrating the streamlining of its official certification processes for High Pressure Processing (HPP) systems with the award of a Professional Engineers (PE) license to Senior Mechanical Engineer Limin Zhang.
The culmination of two years’ work, the PE license will enable Limin and Avure to professionally certify each completed High Pressure Vessel for sale; a task that previously relied on outside expertise.
Limin said: “We are making High Pressure Vessels governed by the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code that requires each vessel to be stamped by a professional engineer, so we used to contract out to a consulting firm. We now have expertise in-house and my having a PE license will add a lot of value to the company, saving both time and money.”
With a BS Degree from Tianjin University, China and a MS Degree from Clemson University, South Carolina, Limin has worked as a senior mechanical engineer for Avure for the past eight years, following stints with the General Electric Company and the United Technology Aerospace Company.
Achieving the PE license took two years’ preparation and study, which were crowned by Limin passing the PE exam in May 2022. Limin added: “It took time and effort to obtain the license, especially when you have been away from school for 20+ years. I am glad that the perseverance has paid off and I can make more contributions to the company using my PE stamp.”
