Improved juice, pulp and essential oil extraction, as well as innovative solutions for tracking shipments and virtually integrating machinery will be among the key topics discussed at a JBT Citrus Seminar in Argentina to be held on 26 November in the city of Tucumán. Aimed at both existing customers and newcomers alike, the event will cover a range of subjects of interest to citrus processors, from methods for pulp recovery to the use of JBT’s proprietary iOPs® gateway technology for improved monitoring of production processes.
“We will be looking at best practices in extraction and processing systems from JBT, but also will be including additional content that will be useful to participants,” says Januário Soligon, Director of Sales & Service for JBT Liquid Foods in South America.
Technological solutions
This content will include an overview of EEAOC’s structure and services available to the Argentinian citrus sector delivered by leading Tucumán-based researcher Dr Hernán Salas, and an examination of barriers adopted to prevent the spread of Greening in the region from Pablo Padilla, president of the ACNOA citrus producers’ association.
Technological solutions will be a central focus of the seminar, with a look at recent JBT innovations now available in Argentina. This will include an overview of SafeTraces, a new alliance partner of JBT’s, which specializes in innovative solutions for tracking produce shipments worldwide.
The potential offered by the iOPS platform, which collects data in real time from inter-connected equipment and machinery enabling customers to make timely decisions, will be featured. In the process, the iOPS gateway can improve the overall efficiency of operations, allowing for the detection of potential issues before they become problems. “Having an iOPS gateway in place provides customers with much more information on processes and accurate data on performance and efficiency, helping them to take better day-to-day decisions,” adds Soligon.

Tangible benefits
Pulp recovery systems will also be examined at the seminar, including a look at how the separated pulp can be filled aseptically into containers. The system, explains Soligon, can deliver real, tangible benefits to customers by enabling them to get more out of the same volume of fruit.
Oil recovery will also be a key topic with a look at the recently-launched fourth generation of the successful MORE (Modular Oil Recovery Equipment) system, which includes new, automated features to make life easier for the operator, plus there will be a look at another JBT alliance partner, IceGen, and their rapid freezing solutions for safe transportations of juice, puree and pulp.
